How To See Mutual Friends On Snapchat?

What is the first thing you check before accepting or rejecting any friend request on social media? I see how many and who are mutual friends. You know there are hundreds of fake profiles created every day on social media. And I feel this is the best way to get assured about new connections and build trust with them. This also gives you a sense of familiarity which in turn reassures you as well.

Well, whatever your reason for checking mutual friends, most of the widely used social networks like Facebook and Instagram do not hesitate to exhibit names of mutual friends between two connections. However, the way it works on Snapchat is a little different. If you want to see mutual friends on Snapchat, stay on this page to get answers to all your questions in this regard.

How To See Mutual Friends On Snapchat?

Isn’t it great if you would be able to check the list of common friends? But Snapchat thinks differently unlike Instagram and Facebook. Rather than seeing it as an opportunity to establish trust between two connections, Snapchat doesn’t reveal the list of mutual friends due to privacy concerns. The POV of Snapchat is also not wrong. Whatever the case is, if you really wish to know mutual friends on Snapchat, I am going to tell you the trick.

  • Open Snapchat on your phone.
  • Tap on the Bitemoji at the top-left side corner of your phone screen.

  • Scroll down to explore all the options. Find the section ‘Friends’.
  • Under the ‘Friends’ section, tap on ‘Add Friends’. There you will also know how many Snapchatters have added you.

  • On the next screen, Snapchat classifies the users under two sections. One is ‘Added Me’ and the other is ‘Quick Add’.
  • The ‘Added Me’ section showcases the name of all the users who have added you and in the ‘Quick Add’ section you will see the names of Snapchatters that you may want to add.
  • In the ‘Quick Add’ section, below the user’s name, you will see the tentative number of mutual friends. However, you will not be able to see the names of friends who are in common.

Can You See Mutual Friends On Snapchat?

The answer is certainly NO, as I have already mentioned the fact that Snapchat hides the names of mutual friends between two Snapchatters to keep the user’s privacy intact. However, under the ‘Quick Add’ Section, below the name of the Snapchat user, you will find a tentative number of mutual friends. Say, for example, it is showing 10+ MUTUAL FRIENDS. Here the number is not exact. Plus, the names of the users are also not disclosed.

Snapchat has clearly mentioned on its Official Snapchat Support Page, that friend recommendations under the ‘Quick Add’ section are shown on the basis of whom you are already friends with and whom you have subscribed to. There are certain other factors also like places to visit, current location, workplace, etc.

Users can also add friends using their phone contact list. In doing so, users provide contact names, phone numbers, and email addresses to Snapchat. However, under the ‘Settings’ section, users will be able to see what information is uploaded about their contacts and they can manage it too.

It is also clarified by Snapchat that even if a user does not upload their contacts on the App, or if contacts added already are deleted, still the recommendation for such users will be shown in the ‘Quick Add’ section for the other reason. And that other reason is ‘Mutual Friends’. Having said that, the ‘Quick Add’ section is not 100% reliable to expand your friend list. There could be suggestions that you might not know and later on regret your decision.

Snapchat ‘Quick Add’ Settings For Privacy

Snapchat never fails to maintain the privacy of its users. This is proved by the fact that the users would be able to manage whether they want their name to be exhibited under the ‘Quick Add’ section of other Snapchatters accounts or not. Under the Snapchat settings, users can enable the ‘Show Me in Quick Add’ option to allow Snapchat to showcase their name in their friend’s suggestion list and if they don’t want, they may disable it. Do you want to know how to enable ‘Show Me in Quick Add’, then do as directed below:

  • Open Snapchat on your phone.
  • Tap on the Bitmoji at the top-left side corner of your phone screen.
  • Then, tap on the top-right side corner of the screen to see the ‘Settings’.

  • Scroll down to explore options. Under the ‘Privacy Control’ section, as shown in the screenshot below, you may find the option of ‘See me in Quick Add’. Tap on it.

  • Tick mark the check box to enable yourself to appear in the other Snapchatters ‘Quick Add’ section.

Quick Add helps friends find each other on Snapchat. You might appear in other Snapchatter’s Quick Add if you share mutual friends or another connection. When you add any friend on Snapchat from the ‘Quick Add’ section, your friend will given a notification of the same.

NOTE: This setting is enabled by default. If you do not want yourself to appear in the other Snapchatters’ ‘Quick Add’ section, disabled it.

Conclusion

Facebook and Instagram display the list of mutual friends even when the user has set the profile to private. However, Snapchat adding the angle of privacy does not allow its users to see the names of mutual friends. In this article, I have explained how you can see mutual friends on Snapchat and how the entire mechanism of the ‘Quick Add’ friends’ section of Snapchat works.
